SHOPPERS have slammed Sainsbury’s claiming their weekly Nectar offers, which allow them to get extra points, are “missing”.

Customers have complained on Twitter that they haven’t received any Nectar offers for weeks – with some saying they haven’t had any in a month.

Under the Nectar card scheme, which was revamped in 2019, Sainsbury’s customers receive a range of points-boosting offers based on their shopping habits every week.

Customers would be able to see the deals on the website or app each week, then collect the extra points if they buy the item in store or online.

But now some angry customers have taken to social media claiming they haven’t received any deals or offers for weeks – and are missing out on points boosts they could have bagged.

The shoppers have been unable to solve the mystery of whether there is an issue the Nectar app or if Sainsbury’s has changed the way the scheme works.

The issue was first spotted by money saving blog Be Clever With Your Cash, and we’ve spotted numerous customers tweeting about the problem.

One customer tweeted they usually get seven to eight offers a week, but have received none for the past two weeks.

“If you do not send offers [then] this is not encouraging me to shop at Sainsbury’s,” they said.

Another customer said they hadn’t received any offers for a month, and asked Sainsbury’s if there was “a problem”.

One shopper asked Sainsbury’s on Twitter whether there was a “glitch” on the Nectar app.

Sainsbury’s hasn’t confirmed how many of its 18million Nectar point customers have been affected.

When The Sun asked whether there was a glitch on the Nectar app, a Sainsbury’s spokesperson said customers were not receiving offers as the Nectar system was trying to “learn and adapt to their shopping habits”.

They added that shoppers would therefore receive “more personalised offers in the future” and customers will start to receive “offers again very soon”.

However, the spokesperson added some customers may find “when and how often they get their offers” will change “over time”.

They said: “We regularly review the promotions available through our Nectar app to ensure customers are always receiving personalised, valuable offers.

“As part of this process, some offers may be currently unavailable for a small number of customers and we apologise for any inconvenience.”

MoneySavingExpert also reported that Sainsbury’s has changed the wording on its website to remove references to weekly deals being sent out.

In a screenshot taken of the Sainsbury’s website on April 16, the supermarket said customers will get offers “every week”, but this has since been removed.

How to find glitches

IT’S a fine art to hunt out price glitches and discounts.

That’s why The Sun spoke to one of the best in the game to find out how you can do it.

We spoke to self-confessed Durham “Del-Boy” Shaun Grey, who set up the UK Coupons Deals & Cashback Facebook group, last year to get some tips.

He reckons you could save thousands every year by doing the following:

  • Looking on Facebook groups for glitch tips. Shaun says he once got a a free £49.99 sleeping device on Amazon after a bargain hunter posted a discount code in a group post
  • Hotukdeals often share glitches they’ve spotted
  • Look out for coupons. Sometimes you can get further discounts on top of existing deals
  • It’s important to note that shops can cancel genuine price errors even if you’ve already paid for them, so glitches might not always be successful

Sainsbury’s shoppers aren’t the only ones who have come up against difficulties while using supermarket loyalty schemes.

Last year, Lidl shoppers were furious after complaining that a glitch with the shop’s loyalty app stopped them from getting a £5 discount.

When it was launched in September last year, the app offered deals including £5 off a £25 shop for new users.

But unhappy shoppers complained on social media of problems including money-off coupons not working, and of the app not tracking spending, which is needed to get discounts once you hit monthly expenditure targets.

Meanwhile, Asda shoppers spotted what appeared to be a price glitch earlier this month for a three-seater sofa.

The £375 Edmund sofa comes in five different colours, but shoppers spotted the duck egg colour sofa was going for just £10.

After The Sun published the story, Asda pulled the listing from its website.

In February, Amazon shoppers picked up kids bunk beds for £23.49 after a price glitch brought it down from £219.99.

M&S shoppers also snapped up a £129 footstool for £1 after a glitch saw the price dramatically reduced.

An in October, cheeky Brits rushed to Tesco to take advantage of a computer glitch that gave double discounts on meal deals – costing one shopper just 4p.
