All aboard: Rolls-Royce Submarines said it will launch a Nuclear Skills Academy based in Derby
Rolls-Royce has set its sights on the future by pledging to fund 200 nuclear apprenticeships every year for at least the next decade.
In a major investment in the next generation of recruits, Rolls-Royce Submarines said it will launch a Nuclear Skills Academy based in Derby.
The engineer, which is based in Derby, has provided the power for all of the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines for 60 years.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Defence awarded defence contracts worth more than £2billion to BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce to begin the third major phase of Dreadnought, a future submarine nuclear deterrent programme.
Steve Carlier, president of Rolls-Royce Submarines, said: ‘The UK is embarking on a nuclear renaissance and we are determined to make the East Midlands the home of nuclear expertise for decades.’
