Robert Tonya was reared in McHenry, Illinois, by his parents, Robert Sr. (aka Bob) and Tammy Tonyan, twenty minutes south of the Wisconsin border.

He was in charge of directing weekly sessions with the offensive line scouts in addition to leading daily scout meetings and instructing the defensive scout squad.
Huettel was the offensive line coach at Gannon University in 2018 before heading to Cincinnati.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, Tight End Robert Tonyan has returned to the Green Bay Packers on a one-year, $3.75 million contract with a potential value of $5.5 million.
Tonyan received a $1 million signing bonus and is eligible for $1.515 million in active roster incentives each game. In addition, he is eligible for $1.75 million in bonuses for playing time and Pro Bowl selection.
Tonyan played for Indiana State for four years after redshirting his freshman year in 2012. In 2013, he appeared in 11 games, three of which he started as quarterback.
He completed 35 of 102 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns, including his first career 57-yard strike. In his second season, he moved to wide receiver, catching 54 passes for 747 yards and four touchdowns, including a career-high 172 yards in the season finale.

Robert Tonyan Three-Year Contract With Detroit Lions
Tonyan signed a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Detroit Lions on May 12, 2017. When he signed his contract, he became the ninth Indiana State football player to join the NFL.
He was released prior to the season’s start, but the Packers re-signed him for the 2018 season after he played the final four games of the 2017 season on their practice squad.
Prior to his first NFL catch, he appeared in nine games but saw only one target, a 54-yard touchdown ball from Aaron Rodgers against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11.
During the 2018 season, he had four catches for 77 yards and one touchdown.

Tonyan’s contract with the Packers was extended for one year on April 24, 2020, when he was re-signed as an exclusive-rights free agent. Tonyan scored an 11-yard touchdown throw against the Detroit Lions in Week 2’s 42-21 triumph on September 20, 2020.
However, He caught six passes for 98 yards and three touchdowns to help the Green Bay Packers upset the Atlanta Falcons 30-16 in a nationally televised Monday Night Football game on October 5, 2020.
In the NFC Championship game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he recorded four receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown. The club lost 31-26.
Similarly, Tonyan was signed as a restricted free agent in the second round by the Packers on March 17, 2021. On May 27, he signed his tender for $3.4 million.
