A £7 PACK of rechargeable batteries from Ikea has been voted the best product of the year by consumer watchdogs.

The Ladda topped a list of items singled out by Which? for value, innovation or efficiency.

A single battery, sold in packs of four, was found to outlast 150 ordinary ones — making it highly economical and better for the environment.

Which? described it as an “unsung hero”.

The consumer group’s experts tested 3,500 products during 2022.

They have now whittled the list down to the best 50.

In second place was another everyday product — Aldi’s £3.19 Almat Super Concentrated powder laundry detergent.

But also on the list are laptops, TVs, a record player, a 15-in-1 airfryer, a robot lawnmower and a £75,000 electric BMW that does more than 300 miles on a single charge
