“This is very accurate to screen used versions except the top is more ‘dome’ like.”

The original owner remembers there being exhibitions in London’s Selfridges in 1980 and also Harrods in 1983.

They described the helmet as “an exceptional piece of history worthy of display in any collection”, adding that “similar helmets have sold at major auction houses worldwide for five figure sums”.

It is suggested that if this particular item were in a high street gallery, it would “command a price tag of at least £45,000”.

It is rare that fans have the chance to get their hands on props from their favourite films, but when they do they need to have a blockbuster budget.

The largest collection of James Bond memorabilia went on sale and was set to reach £3million at auction last year.

And a Toy Story superfan who was looking to sell on his collection of 330 toys was asking for a staggering £40,000 when he sold them off online.
