CHOCOLATE fans have been left furious in the run-up to Christmas after realising the Quality Street tubs have shrunk once again.
The tubs now contain 600g worth of sweets, compared to 650g last year.
At the same time, the prices have stayed the same.
The change was first reported in August, but many shoppers are only starting to realise it as we get closer to Christmas.
One user tweeted recently: “The size of the Quality Street box has shrunk yet again. Almost pocket size.”
While another added: “They made the tubs smaller and charged more for less so I’m guessing they will reduce the size even more? and charge even more?”
And a third said: “I’m more worried about the shrinking of the tins of Roses and Quality Street.
“Keep going and they will be size of a pick and mix cup.”
While a fourth posted a picture of a 600g tub and noted: “I know times are hard but look at the size of a tin of Quality Street now!”
When it was first reported, a Nestle spokesperson said it introduces a new Quality Street range every year “with formats, sizes, weights and rsps based on a range of factors”.

These include “the cost of manufacturing, ingredients and transport, and the preferences of our customers and consumers,” it added.
In 2018, Nestle reduced the standard tub size from 750g to 720g having shrunk the tubs by 40 per cent over the last decade.
The Sun has weighed the sweets with and without packaging and found all treats weigh between 6g and 10g each without the wrappers.
It means shoppers can expect a handful of fewer sweets in this year’s tub.
What are the two other changes?
The confectionery giant has also made a couple of other changes to Quality Street tubs and sweets this year.
Most notably, it last week announced that Quality Street will axe its brightly-coloured wrappers over 86 years since their release.
In an aim to be more environmentally-friendly, the treats are now being wrapped in a duller form of waxed paper, which is recyclable.
However, the green triangle and orange crunch will remain in their existing foil wrappers.
The new packaging will be phased in over the coming months.
Secondly, Nestle told The Sun the tubs and tins in previous years have always included the weights with and without wrappers on the packaging.
However, from this year it’ll only communicate the net weights (without wrapping).
This means the weight on the packaging is what you’ll get in pure chocolate.
This change comes as Quality Street fans last year slammed the variety tin after they claimed to have calculated the weight to include wrappers.
They found that a standard 800g Quality Street tin contained 780g of chocolate, with the remaining 20g made up of sweet wrappers.
However, Nestle said the tins would have listed both the net and gross weights.
When The Sun weighed all sweets in a 2022 600g tub, we received 618.9g worth of treats including wrappers and 599.9g excluding them.
