SINCE its launch last November, millions of gamers around the world have struggled to bag a PlayStation 5.

In the UK, rumours swirl almost daily about new stock drops at the likes of Smyths Toys, Argos, GAME, and Amazon.

Most of the time these time out to be untrue, but even when new consoles DO drop, they seem to be snapped up before most us even have a chance to get on the websites.

  • GAMERS KEEP FINGERS CROSSED FOR WEDS/THURS DROP

    On Twitter, gamers say they believe that Thursday is the day for Game’s next PS5 restock – but there is a lot of confusion as some are adamant it’ll happen today.

    Qasim Tailor, for example, tweeted that Game has “changed their web to the 11th”.

    James Hicks replied on Feb 9: “It says payments will be taken on 11th.

    “My guess is drop tomorrow [Feb 10], check orders to make sure none go to scalpers then take payments following days.”

  • GAME TO DROP PS5 STOCK TODAY OR TOMORROW?

    Game are “very likely to drop their stock [today]. Hearing around 8-11am,” advises Twitter tipster @PS5UKStock.

    However a check of Game’s website as of 8.50am still shows that it is ‘out of stock’.

    Plus, other PS5 buyers waiting for new stock replied on Twitter that they understand that Game is likely to have a refresh tomorrow, Thursday the 11th.

    One said: “I swear they said Thursday.”

  • FIVE MONTHS’ WAIT FINALLY PAYS OFF FOR NEW PS5 OWNER

    An extremely patient gamer has been left with a huge smile upon opening their brand new PS5 – after MONTHS of waiting.

    Tweeting under @Finto 182, they said: “It’s finally here! I pre-ordered mid-September and I got it this morning!”

    The gamer got stuck into Miles Morales and reported they “absolutely loved it”.

  • NO PS5 RESTOCK AT SMYTHS TOYS

    SMYTHS have confirmed there will be no more PS5 stock this month.

    Writing on social media, the retailer said: “As of now, we expect another restock of this console later this month.”

    “We’re afraid we do not have a preorder or notification service available for the upcoming restock.”

    “Please keep an eye on the website for updates, & apologies for any inconvenience.”

  • RUMOURS OF A ‘BIG’ PS5 RESTOCK HAPPENING THIS WEEK

    “There’s a new PS5 restock happening in the UK this week, and it looks like a big one,” writes Gaming Intel.

    The website adds that both Very and GAME are expecting PS5 restocks today – February 9.

    “We don’t know exactly what time the next-gen consoles will go live at either store just yet.

    “However, Very tends to do early afternoon drops, at between 1.30-2.30pm,” it adds.

  • HOW TO TURN OFF YOUR PS5

    Gaming Intel has shared some advice for new PS5 console owners on how to turn them off.

    It writes:

    • Tap (don’t hold) the DualSense controller’s PlayStation button
    • Press right to head to the far end of the control centre
    • Press X on the power symbol found here
    • Then select ‘Turn Off PS5’
    • You can also enter Rest Mode here or restart your console entirely
  • PLAYSTATION TO LAUNCH XBOX GAME

    Playstation Studios is about to launch its first-ever game on the Xbox, insiders have claimed.

    Leaked box art for an Xbox version of Sony’s MLB: The Show 21 has turned up online. MLB: The Show is a longstanding baseball game series that debuted in 2006.

    The game is typically a PlayStation exclusive, but leaker Anerdydad has posted images of an Xbox One cover for the game.

    On the front of the box is a PlayStation Studios stamp. It’s entirely possible that it’s a mocked-up fake, but Sony has previously hinted that such a crossover would soon occur.

  • CYBERPUNK 2077 AND WITCHER 3 GAME MAKER HACKED

    The GAME developer behind Cyberpunk 2077 and the hit Witcher series has confirmed it has been hit by a major cyberattack.

    In a statement on Tuesday, Polish outfit CD Projekt Red said hackers had infiltrated its internal network, stolen data and left a ransom note.

    The attackers claim to have stolen code for some of the firm’s biggest games as well as other internal files and have threatened to leak them unless a payment is made.

    CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has said it will not negotiate with the hackers.

  • PS5 COULD GET ALL-BLACK MAKEOVER – UNCONFIRMED

    The PS5 could be getting an all-black makeover.

    A company called Dbrand has sent out a survey about the black PS5 faceplates it’s been working on.

    Techradar reports that the custom hardware skin maker is producing PS5 faceplates, called Darkplates, which transform the white PS5 into a sleek, matte black machine. 

    Sony has yet to reveal anything official.

  • NO SIGNS OF RESTOCK AT VERY

    There are still no signs of new PS5 consoles at Very, despite rumours suggesting restocks would go live by 2pm.

    Another PS5 stock checker website claims the console will be in stock at GAME on February 11, between 9am and 12pm GMT. Currys will also reportedly restock the PlayStation 5.

  • SIX PS5 OPTIONS FOR GAME RESTOCK

    A TOTAL of six different PS5 options are expected to be available to pre-order on GAME, including four bundles.

    The most expensive of these PlayStation bundles may retail for as high as 539.99, and include multiple controllers and a recharge station.

    But while pre-orders for these PS5s will reportedly go live this week, they might not ship until nearer the end of the month.

  • PS5 TO FINALLY LAUNCH IN CHINA

    Sony will launch the PlayStation 5 in China during the second quarter of 2021.

    The PS5 console dropped in November 2020 in a raft of global markets – but China was not among them. 

    Chinese retailers took orders for the highly-anticipated console, hiking the price by up to four times for imports from the US and Japan. 

    Eurogamer reports that soon, the PS5 will be officially available in mainland China.

  • RESTOCK AT GAME DELAYED DUE TO UK SNOW

    GAME’s plan to restock PS5 consoles on Wednesday have been put back a day due to UK weather conditions.

    The predicted stock drop is still between 9am and midday – but now on Thursday, February 11 – although that may depend on whether the weather continues to worsen.

  • CAN YOU PAIR PS5 TO IPHONES?

    APPLE is upgrading your iPhone with the ability to link PS5 and Xbox Series X/S controllers.

    The new update means you can play iPhone games using the next-gen console joypads. You can already pair older controllers to the iPhone.

    But with the iOS 14.5 update, your iPhone and iPad will gain support for the PS5’s DualSense – and the Xbox Series X gamepad too.

    The update is available in beta right now, and will roll out more generally in the coming weeks.

  • ASSASSIN’S CREED VALHALLA $20 PRICE CUT

    GAMERS can bag a copy of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for up to $20 off the usual price.

    The brand new game is available on previous-gen and next-gen consoles – including the PlayStation 5.

    This offer is available from Amazon in the US, and is still in stock. The biggest discount is on the PS4 version, with a free upgrade to the PS5 edition.

    It usually costs $59.99 but the price has been reduced to a far more tempting $39.99.
