SHOPPERS crashed the Primark website in a rush to try out the retailer’s new click and collect service.

The high street chain launched its new, online service today at 25 stores located across the North West of England, Yorkshire and Wales.

But when customers went online to place an order, they were met with an error page with said the service was temporarily unavailable.

Primark fans took to social media to complain about the website issues.

One person said: “I can’t get on the website. It keeps coming up saying 502 bad gateway.”

While another added: “The new system is pointless when the website is down.”

The Sun has contacted Primark for a comment.

The trial only includes kids toys, clothing and nursery ranges.

That means you won’t be able to order other ranges, like womenswear and homeware, and pick it up.

But the retail giant says around 2,000 items from its kids range will be available to order.

Shoppers will have to spend a minimum of £15 to use the click and collect service, but there is no charge.

Each store will have a designated click and collect service desk.

All orders will be delivered to store in brown paper packaging, or cardboard boxes sealed with paper tape featuring the new Click and Collect branding.

The retailer said all of its packaging can be easily recycled at home.

Primark also introduced self-service checkouts in select stores earlier this year as a way to reduce queuing times.
