Easter Sunday lands on April 9 and many retailers close their doors to give staff a well-earned break.

Good Friday is on April 7 and Easter Monday follows on April 10 – both are Bank Holidays.

The Saturday (April 8) is a normal day.

Primark has more than 300 stores across the country and opening times can vary across the UK.

To find your nearest store’s specific opening hours you can use the locator tool on Primark’s.

But times might change slightly from the norm over the Bank Holiday so we’ve rounded up everything you need to know.

Is Primark open over the Easter Bank Holidays?

Primark’s opening hours vary from store to store and by location.

That’s no different over Easter but times can be different to usual.

The retailer it is advising customers to find their local store opening times on its website.

Go to primark.com and go to its store locator tool – just enter your postcode to find your nearest branch

For example, Primark’s store in Barnsley shows it will close on Easter Sunday.

It will then open again at 10am on Monday, which is a Bank Holiday.

But in Aberdeen branch will remain open from 10am to 6pm on Easter Sunday.

Under Government rules stores of a certain size must close on Easter Sunday.

Shops in England and Wales larger than 280 square metres have to close on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.

Meanwhile normal Sundays trading laws stipulate that any stores that choose to remain open can only do so for six consecutive hours between 10am and 6pm.

Shops in Scotland can open in line with Sunday trading hours on Easter Sunday.

What are other businesses doing?

Tesco

Tesco said all its larger stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be closed on Easter Sunday.

Meanwhile, branches in Scotland will open as per normal Sunday trading hours and the majority of all Express stores will be open.

On Easter Monday, April 10, many large stores will operate reduced hours while Express shops will be open as usual.

Meanwhile, on Good Friday, April 7, stores that normally stay open until late will close at 10pm.

To make sure you’re covered, you should use Tesco’s branch locator which will tell you opening hours for your nearest outlet.

You can also use the locator to check what time Tesco petrol stations will be open too.

B&Q

B&Q will be open as usual until 8pm, with stores opening at either 7am or 8am across the UK.

They will be shut on Easter Sunday in EnglandWales and Northern Ireland, in line with the ruling by the UK government.

Stores which are over 280 square metres must close on this day, and as B&Q stores are generally very large, they fall into this bracket.

The only other holiday that shops in these countries must close is Christmas Day.

Stores in Jersey will be closed on Good Friday, April 7.

Scottish B&Q stores will remain open as the country doesn’t have any trading restrictions.

It’s best to check on the local store finder on the company’s website in order to make sure that your favoured shop is open to avoid disappointment.

It is still possible to order online, but your items will not arrive on Easter Sunday.

Ikea

All Ikea stores in England and Wales will be closed on Easter Sunday.

The majority will also open, but with restricted hours, on Good Friday, April 7, and Easter Monday, April 10.

For example, Gateshead is open 10am to 7pm on both these Bank Holidays – but you should check individual stores before visiting.
