This includes an app for a common social media platform with billions of users.
According to Uswitch, the Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps are two of the “biggest drains on our batteries”.

However, if you don’t use Facebook that much you may not need it to be refreshing all the time.
Luckily, Apple has an easy way to stop an app from refreshing in the background when you’re not using it.

This can be done by going to Settings, then clicking General.
Next, go to Background App Refresh.
From there you can either switch all background app refreshes off.
Alternatively, you can individually select the ones you want to stop from the list, including Facebook or other ‘vampire apps’ like Google and WhatsApp.
