POPEYS has launched its first ever breakfast menu to rival McDonald’s.

Available from today, the US fried chicken giant has launched a host of savoury and sweet items for fans to kick-start their day with.

All of the items are exclusive to the UK and can be enjoyed from 11am everyday.

Fast food fans can tuck into a Big Cajun Roll for £4.99.

The savoury snack is made up of a sausage patty, Cajun hash brown, egg, smoked streaky bacon and American cheese.

It comes in a brioche bun and is served with Cajun ketchup.

You can make this into a meal by adding hash browns and a drink for £5.99.

Eary birds can also tuck into a egg, cheese, bacon or sausage breakfast muffin and cajun hash browns.

But if you prefer something sweet, then you can also get cinnamon or plain breakfast biscuits, topped with Nutella, honey or jam.

Customers can wash their brekkie down with a mocha shake, a variety of coffees or a Tropicana orange juice.

Popeys said it plans to roll the breakfast menu out at ten additional locations later this year.

As well as sit-in restaurants, it has takeaway-only kitchens in various London districts, including Bermondsey, Maida Vale and Whitechapel.

Popeyes launched in the UK in 2021 with the first store opening in Westfield shopping centre in Stratford.

The company is owned by Restaurant Brands International (RBI) which also owns Burger King

Popeyes first opened in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972 and has 350 branches in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The company has more than 3,000 restaurants in 25 countries. 

Popeyes isn’t the only American chain expanding in the UK.

Fried chicken restaurant chain Chick-fil-A has confirmed it has plans to open new branches across the country.

The retailer is set to open its first store in early 2025 and then up to five in the following two years.

While the exact menu hasn’t yet been confirmed by Chick-fil-A, it has said it will be bringing popular items from across the pond.
