WETHERSPOON fans may soon have to find a new local as yet more sites are set to close for good.

The Sun can exclusively reveal that The White Hart in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, will close on March 15 when it transfers to a new owner.

Meanwhile, the Resolution in Middlesborough has already shut its doors, and the chain will terminate its lease on June 23.

Reacting to the new on Facebook, one punter said: “It was always busy and right in the centre next to the bus station.

“I’ve no idea why this would be shut.”

Another said: “I don’t understand why it’s closed!”

But it’s not all bad news for Wetherspoons fans, as the Sennockian in Sevenoaks has been withdrawn from sale and will remain open.

The Plough and Harrow in London has been removed from the sales listing on the Savills estate agent website, but its future as part of the chain remains uncertain.

But for now, it remains open and trading as a Wetherspoons.

It comes after Wetherspoons confirmed that the Rochester Castle in London will be sold three decades after it first became a Wetherspoons.

And dozens of other locations remain listed for sale.

Spoons also announced the sale of a popular Edinburgh pub.

The Foot of the Walk bar in Edinburgh’s Leith is also on the market following a sewer pipe bursting underneath the premises.

Plus The Sun exclusively revealed that The Quay in Poole, Dorset would be going on the market.

Regulars have since taken to social media to share their sadness over the decision.

One Wetherspoons fab said: “Another one bites the dust.”

Another cried: “So I’m losing my favourite summer location.”

While a third commented: “We really don’t need another big empty property on the Quay vacant.”

And another pleaded: “Please stay open.”

The chain – which has 827 pubs across the UK – warned last September it was putting dozens of its pubs up for sale.

The Percy Shaw in Halifax called last orders on January 7 after Wetherspoon sold the venue to a new owner.

Almost half a dozen pubs remain up for sale, while 14 sites are currently under offer.

This means that a buyer has presented an offer that is being considered by the seller.

It doesn’t mean that the sale is guaranteed, and it could still remain open if it doesn’t complete.

The five pubs that are up for sale are as follows:

  • The Pontlottyn, Abertillery
  • The Ivor Davies, Cardiff
  • The Market Cross, Holywell
  • The Rochester Castle, London
  • Foot of the Walk, Edinburgh

Increased energy and wage costs are piling further pressure on businesses.

But, Wetherspoons continues to run sales and excite its loyal fanbase.

From March 6 punters will get the chance to sample a range of 30 different real ales including five from overseas brewers.

The festival will run for 12 days from Wednesday 6 March to Sunday 17 March.

Wetherspoons fans will get the opportunity to sample beers from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Taiwan and the USA.
