Paulette Wilson, who died last year, is commemorated at Wolverhampton base of late ‘Rivers of Blood’ MP
A memorial plaque honouring campaigner Paulette Wilson has been unveiled on the Wolverhampton building that used to house Enoch Powell’s constituency office, as part of a commemoration ceremony to mark Windrush Day.
Wilson, who died unexpectedly last year, aged 64, was one of the most vocal critics of the government over the Windrush scandal. In 2015 the former House of Commons canteen worker was misclassified by the Home Office as an illegal immigrant, and was twice arrested, before being detained and booked on to a flight back to Jamaica, the country where she was born, but had not visited in 49 years.
