PEPSI is bringing out a major festive flavour to its range but fans will be divided.

The limited edition fizzy drink is composed of a festive flavour colloquially used to describe football’s “craftiest skill” – all in time for the World Cup.

Pepsi says the new drink “has given its classic cola taste credentials a spicy twist” – thanks to the addition of Nutmeg.

The new drink dubbed Pepsi Nutmeg comes in 473ml light sandy-coloured can which showcases two footballers embraced in a nutmeg exchange.

In football, a player is ‘Nutmegged’ when their opponent kicks the ball between their legs.

The fiery new drink pays homage to Pepsi’s latest football campaign dubbed ‘Nutmeg Royale’, an epic film featuring football icons and celebrating the game’s craftiest move.

Fizzy drink fans hoping to get their hands on the limited edition flavour will have to wait.

Pepsi Nutmeg is not yet available for purchase, fans should keep their eyes on PepsiCo’s social media pages to find out how they can bag the new drink.

But the flavour has divided soda fans who took to Twitter to air their views.

Some fans have reacted well to the announcement of a new flavour with one saying “I need to try this” and another who said, “Sending my address, need one.”

But others took another view, with one fan calling the new flavour “trash.”

Gustavo Reyna, Pepsi’s senior director of global marketing said: “We had so much fun bringing our latest football campaign ‘Nutmeg Royale’ to life!

“After centring a project around one of football’s craftiest moves, it made perfect sense for us to explore the option of creating a limited-edition flavour that complimented the cunning skill.

“From Cherry, to Lime, to Nitro and now Nutmeg, we love pushing flavour boundaries! Pepsi Nutmeg is no different – innovation, fun and flavour at its finest and we are so excited to share with the world!”
