Home secretary calls on police ‘to do whatever necessary to restore public order’ after suspected looting organised on social media

Suella Braverman has called for those who took part in a suspected raid of shops on London’s Oxford Street and subsequent scuffles with the police to be “hunted down”.

Footage showed police wielding batons in clashes with dozens of young men and teenagers, and officers on horseback trying to disperse watching crowds on Europe’s busiest shopping street on Wednesday.
