Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group one happy shopper said: “Not sure if this has been shared but Sainsbury’s Nectar has launched its discount (like Clubcard) and there are some decent discounts…

“I even got a £4.50 voucher today for a £30 spend. Every little helps and all that…”

The shopper bagged a 24-pack of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar for half price – from £10 to £5 thanks to the new “Nectar Prices.”

Other savings included £10 off L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler and £5.50 off 39 Ariel liquid laundry capsules.

Others were quick to respond saying that the deals are “great.”

It comes after The Sun exclusively revealed that Sainsbury’s was shaking up its Nectar card to rival Tesco’s money-off deals.

Sainsbury’s Nectar Prices give customers access to exclusive prices in-store and online on hundreds of selected products.

Shoppers will need to be armed with a Nectar card to take advantage of the savings.

All existing Nectar customers need to do to benefit from Nectar Prices is scan their app or swipe their card at the till to save.

The scheme mimics Tesco’s Clubcard scheme which offers similar savings to shoppers.

On cupboard staples, shoppers can get a third off Heinz Baked Beans, taking them from £1.40 to 95p.

An £8.10 200g jar of Nescafe Gold Blend is cut to £4.

Ariel All-in-1 pods have also had their price cut to £5 instead of £10.50.

Alcohol prices have also been slashed for Nectar Card holders.

Shoppers can scan their Nectar Card and get 18 cans of Stella Artois Premium Lager for £13 instead of £17.

Smirnoff Red Label Vodka Nectar Price costs £14 instead of £16.50 for those who aren’t members.

Families with young children can also make a saving.

For example, 33 Pampers Baby-Dry Nappy Pants are £5 for those with a Nectar card instead of £10.

Shoppers can bag 54 Flash Plastic Free Antibacterial Cleaning Wipes for £2 with a Nectar card instead of £4.

It’s always important to shop around in case you can find similar or better deals elsewhere.

You can look up items yourself online before heading to a store, or by using comparison websites like Trolley.co.uk.

Earlier this week, Co-op also announced that it was cutting prices for its loyalty scheme members.

But those who aren’t members of the scheme won’t benefit from the lower costs.

The cheaper prices are expected to save the average member up to £300 a year on their grocery bills, Co-op said.

How do Nectar Prices work?

Customers shopping in Sainsbury’s supermarkets or online now get discounts on hundreds of items initially, spanning household products, pet food and confectionary, with Nectar Prices.

The discounts are automatically applied to their bill when the shoppers use their Nectar app or card at checkout.

Those who don’t have a Nectar card can still easily access Nectar Prices by downloading the app.

Members can also continue to receive personalised discounts of up to 30% on their favourite items when they use the SmartShop app to scan their items in-store.

Every week, customers will find personalised lower prices for certain items with Your Nectar Prices.

Card members also continue to earn one Nectar point for every £1 spent at Sainsbury’s when shopping at certain other stores including Esso, Asos, eBay, Expedia, Habitat and Argos.
