One of the tools helps users lock specific apps behind a passcode or Face ID.

The new tool utilizes Lock Screen automation and essentially locks your phone when a specific app is open – such as a banking app.

HOW TO TURN IT ON

To try this new feature out, first head to your Shortcuts on your device.

After you have opened that up, tap the “Automation” tab at the bottom of the screen.

From there, select the plus (+) button in the top-right corner, then tap “Create Personal Automation.”

Scroll down and click on “App” and then make sure to toggle on “Is Opened” on the next screen.

Once you have done that, tap “Choose” and select an app from the list that you want to lock down.

After you have selected an app, tap on “Done.”

You should then see a “Next” button, tap on that and then select the blue “Add Action” button on the next screen.

For your action, you will want to type in “Lock Screen” in the search field and then tap “Next.”

Next, toggle off “Ask Before Running” and then tap “Don’t Ask” in the pop-up prompt.

Finally, you can tap on Done and your personal automation will be saved.

This same Lock Screen action can also be utilized by macOS 13.3 for added security on your desktop and MacBook.
