One of the best tricks to do that is called Low Power Mode, a little-known iPhone feature.

Lower Power Mode was actually added all the way back in iOS 9 – in 2015!

But many users still have no idea that the clever iPhone hack exists.

It shuts off a bunch of features to give you much better battery life.

You could get comfortably over a day of usage in Low Power Mode if you keep it active.

So how does it work?

For a start, Low Power Mode will be offered to you if you drop to 20% (and then 10%) charge.

You can reject it, of course, but it could keep you juiced up in a tricky situation.

However, it’s also possible to turn on manually, even if you’re at 100% charge.

Just go into Settings > Battery and then turn on Low Power Mode.

You can also ask Siri to turn it on using a voice command.

Of course, Low Power Mode doesn’t come without its downsides.

Several features will be disabled while Low Power Mode is activated.

And this list might change depending on which iPhone model you have.

“When Low Power Mode is on, your iPhone or iPad will last longer before you need to charge it,” Apple explained.

“But some features might take longer to update or complete.

“Also, some tasks might not work until you turn off Low Power Mode, or until you charge your iPhone or iPad to 80% or higher.”

Here’s the full list according to Apple:

  • 5G (except for video streaming) on iPhone 12 models
  • Auto-Lock (defaults to 30 seconds)
  • Display brightness
  • Display refresh rate (limited up to 60 Hz) on iPhone and iPad models with ProMotion display
  • Some visual effects
  • iCloud Photos (temporarily paused)
  • Automatic downloads
  • Email fetch
  • Background app refresh

You’ll know that you’re in Low Power Mode because the battery status bar will turn yellow.

But once you charge your iPhone and it rises above 80%, the feature will automatically deactivate.

If you want quick access to the feature, you can add it to the Control Centre.

Go to Settings > Control Centre > Customise Controls and then choose Low Power Mode.
