Ahmed, 64, sentenced to five years and six months for offences in the 1970s

The former Labour peer Nazir Ahmed has been jailed for five years and six months after being found guilty of sexual offences against two children in the 1970s.

The 64-year-old was found guilty at Sheffield crown court in January of serious sexual assault against a young boy aged 11 at the time, and twice attempting to rape a girl, when he was a teenager.
