A TIKTOKER has sparked outrage amongst loyal pubgoers after he branded their pub as the worst in the UK.

UkBanterrz’s video listing the ’25 Worst Wetherspoons‘ in the UK went viral on social media, gathering more than a million views.

However, punters at The Clifton pub in Sedgley were livid when they found out their pub was rated the worst in the UK.

Security guard Jenni Timmins had been in for lunch with her friend Emma Peniket.

Jenni, 51, said: “I can’t understand why it would be rated badly.

“The food was good, the staff are pleasant and we don’t always like Wetherspoons.”

Emma, 53, a teaching assistant, went further: “It’s a lovely place.

“I’d go as far as saying the ladies’ facilities are top-notch.

“They have a proper mirror, upholstered seats, a little table.

“You can’t moan,” she added.

RAGING LOCALS

The clip angered the local MP, Marco Longhui, who visited the pub after seeing the clip online.

He claimed represented “dark powers” unleashed by the internet age of social media.

“This mercenary has randomly strung together names of pubs, some of which do not even exist, to drive footfall and advertising revenue for themselves,” he added.

“They do not care who they offend or what impact it will have on the pubs they know nothing about.

“I have heard nothing bad about The Clifton in my time as MP and came down to show solidarity with the staff and customers.”

He’s an ars*h**e

Pam Room

The Clifton locals were not fazed by TikToker’s brutal rating and on Thursday the pub was packed with every table taken.

Praises were the only thing heard from everyone at the Wetherspoons that had been branded as the worst in the UK.

Retired catering manager Pam Room, 78, was disgusted by the TikTok claim.

Pam knows all the punters at the Clifton and enjoys the wonderful staff that bring her drinks if the queue is too long, she claims.

“I live on my own so it’s something I look forward to,” she added.

Julie Haywood, 58, also disagreed and claims there are some other “Wetherspoons in the area that are not half as good”.

“The one in Bilston is a dump, the one in Dudley not much better, the one in Wolverhampton has a toilet like a dungeon underground,” she claimed.

She added: “‘I’m fussy.

“I have sent a meal back before in a different pub but the food here is always lovely.

This is THE BEST Spoons in the country. The bar staff are courteous. To call it the worst is just bulls**t nonsense

Brian Davis

Lorry driver Nige Lawson, 61, could not believe the rating and said he’d been to other “Wetherspoons all over the country and this is definitely one of the better ones”.

Brian Davis, 58, claimed the Clifton was “The best spoons in the country” and thought the TikToker’s claims were just “nonsense”.

Retired widow Jan was another happy customer in the UK’s worst Wetherspoon, according to UkBanterrz’s TikTok.

Retired widow Jan, used to go for a pint at The Clifton with her late husband and still enjoys the company of the staff who “will do anything” for her, she claims.

Leslie Fenton, 82, has been drinking at The Clifton since when it first “opened in 1998”.

Like many other Clifton pubgoers, Leslie reckons the Tiktoker can get stuffed after he rated their pub the worst in the UK.

However, there is always one to go against the grain.

Dave Morris, 76, agreed with the TikToker’s ratings and claimed the pub needed an “upgrade”.

“This is the worst,” he said.

Dave added: “I have been in every Wetherspoons pub and they have balconies, lifts, proper beer gardens.”

“This is alright for the locals, they may accept it but if a tourist came in here they wouldn’t be impressed.”

A Wetherspoon spokesman told The Sun: “Staff at the pub work hard to ensure the pub is run to high standards.

“The customers love the pub.

“The TikTok video does not represent the way the pub is viewed by customers and staff.

“It is a nonsense.”
