THE LONG awaited launch of a new discount supermarket set to rival the likes of Lidl and Aldi has arrived TODAY.
Shoppers can now head to Motatos to get their hands on a whole range of bargain groceries.
The new Swedish store claims it will save consumers up to 60% compared to shopping with other supermarkets on common store cupboard ingredients.
It stocks discounted goods from top brands like Heinz, Cadbury, Kellogg’s, Walkers, Typhoo and more.
And it’s all thanks to the new store’s “waste not” model – the only difference is it’s online.
That’s because Motatos “saves” foodstuffs that would otherwise be thrown away due to short best-before dates, or design updates on the packaging, and more – selling on the imperfect products for less.
It sells the surplus food from wholesalers at a reduced price – a bit like when you pick up your yellow sticker goods at British supermarkets.
Some examples of the foodstuffs the store stocks includes Cadbury chocolate.
A 160g White Marvelous Creations jelly popping candy bar costs just 68p a bar at the new online grocer.
You do have to buy it in a bulk of four meaning you actually spend £2.40 for the bundle.

But in contrast, just one bar costs £1.79 at budget rival Asda.
The same quantity, if you were stocking up, would therefore cost over 60% or £4.76 more to buy elsewhere.
That’s not all, Motatos claims its own Heinz tomato ketchup is 45% less than competition, while its Kellogg’s Cornflakes are 25% cheaper than rivals.
There’s plenty more on offer at the same competitive prices too – as well as the discounted drinks and snacks, there’s household goods, pet food and even beauty products.
But the wide range of stock means it could easily end up out-doing more discount stores we have this side of the pond too.
Especially as shoppers hunt down the best prices they can on the supermarket shelves, amid a growing cost of living crisis.
Motatos UK country manager, Christabel Biella said: “The cost of living crisis is affecting all sectors and UK shoppers are looking for ways to cut down their monthly spend without compromising on all the brands that they love.
“With prices surging, Motatos is hoping to make a real difference to consumers by offering savvy savings, allowing them to be sustainability-minded and reduce waste. It’s a win win!”
The only thing you’ll have to watch out for are the delivery fees.
As Motatos operates only as an online store you’ll have to pay to get the stuff brought to your door.
Nationwide delivery fees cost £2.99, but you can get it shipped for free if you spend over £40.
The deliveries are made by third party logistics companies, typically taking between one and three working days.
And those that were keen enough to sign up to its mailing list ahead of the launch have been rewarded with even MORE money off their grocery bills today.
The code “EARLYBIRD30” was sent to eager savers, entitling them to 30% off their order.
Those same shoppers will have to spend at least £20 on the brand new site to qualify though, and it’s an offer that’s only sticking around until the end of the month.
Beyond June 31, the code will no longer be valid for any shopper.
It’s not only at Motatos that you can bag a supermarket bargain – we reveal how to slash your spends.
And one common grocery mistake is costing families a whopping £800 a year on food in the first place.
