Former Sainsbury’s boss Mike Coupe has been appointed chairman of New Look.

The 60-year-old – who is working on the NHS test and trace programme – will succeed Alistair McGeorge on September 29.

Coupe was the supermarket’s chief executive for more than six years until 2020 and oversaw the growth of its Tu Clothing business as well as the takeover of Argos and Habitat parent company Home Retail Group. Coupe said he was ‘delighted’ to be joining New Look where he will work alongside boss Nigel Oddy.
