The firm has added up to 25GB on a number of its SIMs for free.

People with one of O2’s Pay As You Go Big Bundle plans are among those eligible, reports ISPreview.

The Big Bundle is a SIM Only product that allows users to top up as normal each month in exchange for the Big Bundle they’ve selected.

All have unlimited texts and minutes, it’s just the data that varies.

So those who pay £10 for 7GB of data will now find they have 8GB.

The £15 20GB plan has an extra 5GB added on, while the £20 one gains 10GB putting it at 40GB per month.

O2’s most expensive Big Bundle costing £30 gets a 25GB increase, taking it to 125GB.

The plans already allow customers to rollover data each month so long as they keep it topped up.

However, Big Bundles don’t support 5G like other O2 offerings.

One of the Rolling Plans has also had a free data boost.

People with the £15 Rolling Plan which usually has 25GB will find an extra 5GB on top.

The move comes as Virgin Media O2 started informing Android owners of a big change to how they message coming this month.

Since Tuesday, the firm has began switching the technology to so-called RCS (Rich Communication Services), which works in a similar way to iMessage on iPhone.

So, Android handset holders can share things like photos, videos, voice notes and your location within the main messaging app.

“We’re doing this is because Google have plans for their RCS service to make it even better than it is currently,” O2 told customers.
