Problems appear to have started at around 6am but reports quickly escalated as more users ran into trouble getting onto the site.

Around 81% of complaints have come from users being unable to simply log on.

Almost another 20% meanwhile, have had trouble using the website altogether.

On Twitter the bank has addressed the issue.

It said: “We’re experiencing intermittent technical issues with website logins this morning.

“We’re working to resolve them as soon as possible. “

But not all is lost for savers who are struggling to check their results this morning.

There is a way around the technical fault as the bank suggested using the prize checker on its front page or the prize checker app as both should be working as normal.

The temporary fix hasn’t stopped customers airing their frustrations on social media though.

Plenty were furious that the site has been inaccessible this morning.

One said: “I’m unable to log in and I keep getting a red box with a message saying a technical error has occurred.”

While another said: “Any luck in getting that website fixed yet NS&I? Keep getting ‘technical error’ when trying to login.”
