Noel Gallagher is in discussions with Hipgnosis about selling his music catalogue, the Daily Mail can reveal.
Gallagher has been open about wanting to sell his catalogue, telling the BBC: ‘It’s a thing that’s going on in the music business at the moment, rich guys buying up catalogues.
‘My fear is leaving it to my kids and they’ll swap it for a choc ice or Playstation. There’s a long, long, long conversation to be had.’

If a deal is reached with the Oasis star it would be the latest scalp for Merck Mercuriadis, who co-founded the firm in 2018 with Nile Rodgers, of the band Chic, and is chief executive of Hipgnosis Songs Fund.
Hipgnosis has already signed up singer-songwriter Neil Young and pop princess Shakira this year.
It plans to tap investors for another £150million to buy a ‘substantial pipeline of songs’.
The music intellectual property rights investor will place shares at 121p, a small discount to yesterday’s 124p a share close.
Last week it said its catalogue of songs had increased in value by almost 10 per cent last year after a pandemic boom in streaming.
