NINTENDO of America President Doug Bowser has said the company expects the Switch to be successful for years to come.
The Nintendo Switch is now seven years old, and known to be less technically powerful than its competitor consoles, the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S.

However, despite its age, the Switch continued to be the best-selling console of last year, and has outsold Xbox and PlayStation every year since its release.
Experts believe this is due to the versatility of the system, which can be used both with your home TV and as a portable console.
The other reason for its success is Nintendo’s great library of exclusive series such as Metroid, Bayonetta, Kirby, Animal Crossing and Zelda.
Due to the Switch’s age, many fans believed that we could see a Switch successor sooner rather than later.
However, a report in January revealed that Nintendo intends to ramp up console production prior to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
This is the first time that Nintendo itself has suggested that it hopes to continue selling the Switch for the next few years.
In an interview with AP News, Bowser said: “Nothing to announce on any future console or device, but we are still feeling very bullish about Nintendo Switch.
“I should be careful about what I personally would like to see.

But what I can share is that one of the reasons that even going into year seven we feel very confident that the Switch can have a strong performance over the next few years is that it is still truly that unique device that you can play in a variety of ways, at home, on the go.
“One of the things we look at always is how can we surprise and delight. How can we introduce new unique ways of playing. That’s always in front of our mind.”
Console developers often release a new console while their older console is still in production.
However, the sales of the older console usually take a sharp decline after this, and it would not be considered a strong performance.
