NFL: Why Was Alex Carrington Arrested? His Charges, Wife, And Family Explored

Former Buffalo Bills defensive end Alex Carrington was Tased after a violent altercation with police officers early Monday morning, according to police in New York, before he was captured and charged with gun charges and other felonies.

Carrington was stopped in Lockport at 1:34 a.m. for speeding and driving without a headlamp, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

During the inspection, officers suspected Carrington was inebriated and asked him to exit his vehicle so that field sobriety tests could be administered.

Carrington allegedly refused to cooperate, and the situation escalated when officers claimed they discovered a handgun magazine in plain view in the pocket of his driver’s side door while attempting to get him out of the vehicle.

Carrington appeared to try to start his car and leave the scene. According to officials, this is when they tased him and eventually got him out of the car.

Inside the car, deputies recovered a loaded pistol and two more loaded high-capacity magazines, according to deputies. The vehicle was seized and brought into custody.

Carrington was charged with resisting arrest, impeding governmental administration, driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, second and third-degree criminal possession of a handgun, and a number of other traffic and vehicle infractions.

After being arraigned, Carrington was jailed and released on a $5,000 bond. He’ll appear in Lockport Town Court on Thursday.
