More New Look stores are set to close their doors for the final time this month, after several closures this year.

The fashion chain is said to be closing the doors of three of its branches in August.

It has been a bleak summer for UK high streets as stalwart brands continue to disappear from towns and cities across the country.

Littlehampton in Sussex will be the first of the three to face the chopping block, closing its doors on Sunday, August 6.

Three days later on August 9, another store in King Chase Shopping Centre, Bristol, will also shut up shop for the last time.

Crossgates Shopping Centre in Leeds, is also set to shutter this summer, however no date has been confirmed by the fashion retailer.

  • Littlehampton – August 6
  • Kings Chase Shopping Centre – Bristol – August 9
  • Crossgates Shopping Centre – Leeds – end of August (TBC)

This comes after a fellow UK staple store, Wilko, signaled it was on the brink of administration, with 12,000 jobs and 400 stores now at risk.

The closure of these branches comes as a blow to residents. Those in Littlehampton will now have to travel to Bognor Regis to browse a New Look store.

A New Look spokesperson told SussexWorld: ‘We would like to thank all of our colleagues and the local community for their support over the last few years.

‘We hope shoppers continue to shop with us at the nearby Bognor Regis store.’

The Bristol branch also announced its shuttering via the Kings Chase Shopping Centre page on Facebook.

Kings Chase expressed sadness regarding New Look’s farewell from the centre.

Kings Chase Shopping Centre said: ‘We would like to thank Carol and the New Look Kingswood team for their service over the years and we wish them all the very best for the future.’

Locals were left less than happy with the news, one commented: ‘This is such a shame. We need more clothes in Kingswood not less.’

Another echoed their sentiment: ‘Shame it’s closing. Only decent shop left in Kingswood.’

These aren’t the first set of closures for New Look this year. The fashion brand has already shut stores in Coventry, Middlesbrough. Rhyl, Trowbridge, Birmingham, Stockton-on-Tees, Walthamstow and Witham so far this year.

But its not all bad news. In November 2022,  New Look opened multiple new branches across the country.

Earlier this year, in April, the retailer opened branch in a new location in Sunderland.

The high street chain also intends on opening more stores this year, however it has not been confirmed, how many and where they will open.

New Look was approached by MailOnline for comment.
