APPLE iPad users have got one heck of an upgrade in store this year with the reveal of the newest tablet in the lineup.
The new iPad 2021 houses the new A13 bionic chip, making it 20% faster in “every aspect”.

That includes the CPU, GPU and, neural engine for even more responsive performance.
The new iPad has a 10.2-inch retina display and the user experience is being improved thanks to True Tone which changes the colour temperature of the display to match the environment.
The front camera is getting bumped up to a 12MP ultra wide lens, and paired with Centre Stage, it’s even more suited to video calls and even making video content.
The feature has been borrowed from the iPad Pro, and boasts auto detection to dynamically adjust the frame as you move around, or more people join the group.
You can record, stream and post these videos straight into apps like Tik Tok.
It’s compatible with the first generation Apple Pencil, and supports first and third part accessories.
The device ships with iPad OS 15, featuring widgets, multitasking and quick note.
It’s available in silver, and space grey, as well as WiFi only, and WiFi and cellular models.
The iPad 2021 starts at £319 / $329 for the 64GB WiFi model which is twice as much storage as before. The WiFi and cellular model starts at £439.
There’s also a 256GB option if 64GB isn’t enough.
For schools, it’s even cheaper, at $299.
iPad mini
The iPad mini is also stealing the iPad Pro’s 12MP ultra wide camera with Centre Stage on the front. There’s a 12MP camera on the back.
It houses the A15 bionic chip for a 40% boost in performance and 80% jump in graphics performance compared to the last gen iPad mini.
It sports an 8.3-inch liquid retina display while retaining the same compact footprint as the previous model.
It also packs in True Tone like the new iPad, and has the lowest reflectivity screen in the industry. Touch ID is back, located in the top button.
It supports the second generation Apple Pencil which magnetically attaches to the side for easy storage.
Another great feature is USB-C and 5G support.
The iPad mini starts at £479 / $499 for the WiFi model, while the WiFi and cellular model starts at £619.
It’s available in purple, pink, starlight, and space grey.
Both the new iPad and iPad mini are available to order today, for shipping next week on Monday, September 20.
“It is interesting to see the return of the iPad mini, which has not been updated since March 2019. The move has probably been triggered by the renaissance of tablets as people blew the dust off old devices in the rush to get connected at home during the pandemic,” Ben Wood from CCS Insight told The Sun.
“The new iPad mini is a major upgrade and arguably more akin to Apple’s iPad Pro category given its design, upgraded chip, 5G and a USB-C connector,” he added.
“However, it will undoubtedly provoke debate about why many other models have not abandoned the proprietary Lightning adaptor in favour of the more ubiquitous USB-C to be found on some iPads and Macs.”
