Fans of the buttery sport-themed biscuits were devastated when they disappeared from stores in 2022.

A kids’ favourite in the Eighties, the shortcake biscuits featured sports like cricket and cycling.

Announcing the biscuits’ return on Twitter, Aldi said: “Never say we don’t do anything for you lot x.”

“This January, Aldi is stepping in to help revive nostalgic memories with the return of previously discontinued Elkes Sports Shortcake Biscuits.

“Aldi will now be the first retailer to put the biscuits back on shelves and bring back the deliciously dunkable biscuit, pleasing fans up and down the country.”

Aldi shoppers hailed the return of the “God tier” biscuits on social media.

One said: “You’re spoiling us rotten!”
