NETFLIX has snubbed an Apple’s major new gadget as streaming boss says “we’ll see where things go”.

The giant streamer is on everything – from your phone, computer to your game console.

But one place where Netflix isn’t planning to enter is Apple‘s upcoming Vision Pro VR headset.

According to CEO Greg Peters, the company is not sure if users are actually going to use it.

The high-profile tech was launched last year as a new augmented reality that’s the first of its kind.

Apple showed off a reel that shows headset users watching a giant virtual screen in their living room – with the display completely rendered by the headset.

There’s also a cinema environment feature and the ability to make the screen feel like it’s larger than the room you’re in.

Top boss Tim Cook said Vision Pro will “change the way we communicate, collaborate, work and enjoy entertainment.”

However, Netflix exec has slammed the device as “subscale” and said he didn’t know if it’s “relevant to most of our members”.

Mr Peters said: “We have to be careful about making sure that we’re not investing in places that are not really yielding a return, and I would say we’ll see where things go with Vision Pro.

“Certainly we’re always in discussions with Apple to try and figure that out but right now, the device is so subscale that it’s not really particularly relevant to most of our members.”

Peters hinted that a change in his stance could still happen if Apple offered the right incentives.

He said: “We’ve worked together for a long time, we’ve always had active discussions to how we could help each other out.

“Sometimes we find a great space of overlap.”

Apple Vision Pro has reportedly amassed about 180,000 pre-orders during the first weekend it was available to users.

But figures fell short in comparison to the millions of smartphones, consoles and TVs on the market.

The Vision Pro is priced at $3,499 (£2,753) and it won’t be available until early 2024.

It comes as Netflix finally decided to axe its cheapest ad-free plan, six months after it stopped offering it to new subscribers.

The so-called Basic plan costs £7.99/$11.99 per month, and has only been available to existing customers since July last year.

The streaming giant abruptly removed the cheapest ad-free plan from its subscriptions options last year, before hiking prices in October.
