Netflix has launched a new app, suggesting they are taking a new route into the world of gaming.
The streaming goliath has been a key player in the dawn of streaming movies and TV series, and the platform first dipped its toes into gaming in November 2021.
Now the company has released the app on App Store for IOS users.
But don’t get too excited, as no information on what games or when the app will make it to our TV screens has been released just yet.
Netflix has not been forthcoming with the info, simply writing in the app description: ‘Coming soon to Netflix.’

The ‘Netflix Game Controller’ app will allow customers to play games on their TVs, through pairing your mobile phone and using it as a game controller.
So no expensive or lavish game consoles are needed.
The app will have four buttons of various colours, and will resemble controllers used to play on PlayStation or Xbox.
Along with the four buttons, it will have a movable direction toggle and a menu button at the top.
Since October 2022, Netflix has been open about its intentions for cloud streaming technology, with Netflix Vice President of gaming clarifying at TechCrunch Disrupt event that the app won’t be competing with PlayStation or Xbox
‘It’s a value add. We’re not asking you to subscribe as a console replacement.’
He added: ‘It’s a completely different business model. The hope is over time that it just becomes this very natural way to play games wherever you are.’

In March 2023, the platform revealed it had 40 games expected to be launched in the upcoming year.
Netflix are also working with its partners on 70 additional games, as well as 16 that are being produced in its in house studio.
The streaming giant will also be pairing up with other franchises to deliver specific games to customers, with no extra cost involved.
Utswo Monument Valley 1 and 2 will be among the franchises gracing the Netflix gaming app, TechCrunch reports.
The app will be available on Apple devices with iOS 15 software or later. However Android users will be in for a lengthier wait.
Netflix declined to comment.
