A GRAN enraged her neighbours by putting a fence around her front garden so her blind dog can go outside without getting hit by a car.

Cocker Spaniel Murphy has lost his sight in his old age, leaving owner Cindy Copley, 66, worried he might be injured every time he goes out.

The mum-of-three installed the 3ft tall 100ft long fence to stop the dog wandering into the road but was blasted as by fuming neighbours who say it’s ugly.

Cindy told The Sun: “It’s just a fence, I can’t see what the problem is? It’s pathetic.

“I can’t get my head round it, it’s to keep Murphy safe from the main road.

“If I knew this was going to cause this much hassle I wouldn’t have put it up.”

The former NHS worker, of Ludgershall, Wiltshire, doesn’t like putting Murphy in her back garden because it’s too small.

The eight-year-old dog went blind after he was diagnosed with glaucoma last year.

A neighbour said: “It’s the ugliest fence in the world, what does she even think she’s doing.

“It has upset a few people down this road. I’m furious.”

Another added: “You can’t just put up a big ugly fence on a whim, it should to be done properly through the council and by asking everybody in the street.”

Cindy, who lives with husband Kevin, 66, said: “We had the fence put up so he can go out there with us in the garden.

“We do use the back garden as well but the front is a lot bigger.”

Her daughter Kate said: “I cannot begin to express the stress and anxiety this has caused my folks.

“They are both retired and all they wanted was a safe place for their blind doggo.”

People really will moan about anything

Despite family have received widespread support on social media.

One local said: “This is nothing but a decent fence.

“Before the 2021 storms, ours was identical.

“People really will moan about anything and nothing at the same time.

Another added: “Who actually complains about someone putting up a fence, literally have they got nothing better to do?

“Maybe they didn’t want your kids running in and out of their garden and wanted some privacy good on you keep the fence I wouldn’t take it down.”

Cindy does not need planning permission for the 3ft fence but lodged a retrospective application in a bid to show neighbours the fence isn’t coming down.

It comes after The Sun told of other Brits falling foul of neighbour complaints.

One woman spent £9,000 on a fence – only for the people next door to turn the fence panels round so they got the smarter side.

And a mum was left fuming after a neighbour painted the fence next door – and the paint seeped through to her side.
