The couple’s two-year-old son Lukas was a former patient at the hospital after suffering breathing difficulties at three months old.

The tot was diagnosed with a rare condition that caused an irregular growth on his chest.

He was admitted to the ICU before undergoing life-saving surgery to remove the growth.

Heekyoung credits the hospital’s staff for her son’s recovery and ability to lead a full life.

She said: “Great Ormond Street Hospital saved my child’s life, every single one of its staff were amazing and helped us through an incredibly difficult time.

“Thanks to them Lukas is now a healthy and happy boy, and we are eternally grateful. The work they do is so important, they’re real-life superheroes.”

Heekyoung saw the Omaze Million Pound House Draw on Instagram and bought a £25 ticket bundle in June on the first day it opened.

She entered the draw to give back to the GOSH Charity because it’s close to her and Tom’s hearts.

The lucky couple found out she’d won when the Omaze team surprised them at their home.

Carol singers and messages on big cards, inspired by Love Actually, revealed Heekyoung had scooped the main prize.

The gleeful winner said: “We’ve always dreamed of owning a house like this.

“We used to live in a one bed flat in Wimbledon and would often walk past these houses imagining what it would be like to live in one, and now we actually do. Lukas has already chosen his room.”

Heekyoung, originally from Seoul in South Korea, and Tom from Malvern, Worcestershire, have been living in a 4-bedroom house in Wallington, Sutton, Greater London for the past two years.

The family plans to move in to their new digs as soon as possible but are also free to sell the home or rent it out.

Her new home includes a large reception hall, spacious sitting room and dining room, a family room and study, and an open plan sitting and dining space with kitchen.

There’s also a huge master bedroom complete with en suite dressing area and bathroom, three other bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms, an integral double garage with interior door and beautiful two-tier gardens.

The prize also includes £20,000 in cash and all legal fees are paid. Omaze also donated £500,000 to GOSH Charity.

Louise Parkes, GOSH Charity’s Chief Executive, said the money could help to fund research, medical equipment, support services for children and their families or help the essential rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.

She said: “Despite all the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, our mission has stayed the same: to help transform the lives of the seriously ill children who arrive at GOSH every day needing life-saving care.”

Entries are now available for the sixth house draw – worth £3.5million – to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
