MOTOROLA has unveiled a brand new Android phone that boasts a significant camera upgrade and a bigger battery than all iPhones.

The new handset, called the Moto G34 5G, has a price tag of 149.99 – a bargain in comparison with other smartphones on the market.

The battery on the new Moto G34 5G is massive, boasting 5000mAh which means it can be fast charged at breakneck speeds (or minutes)

The budget friendly model sports a 50MP back camera, that experts have likened to the Samsung’s Galaxy S23 which hit the shelves last year for more than five times the price.

There’s also some software upgrades that can boost the picture quality even further, such as HDR and a high-speed autofocus.

The back camera also has a range of different shooting modes, including night vision and an 8X digital zoom.

Meanwhile, the selfie lens has been bumped up from 5MP to 8MP.

It’s a big camera upgrade from Motorola.

Last year’s Moto G handset had a much smaller 16MP lens.

And Motorola didn’t stop there.

Arguably, what consumers find most important for a new phone is a decent camera and a long-lasting battery – a message Motorola heard loud and clear with its newest model.

The battery on the new Moto G34 5G is massive, boasting 5000mAh which means it can be fast charged at breakneck speeds (or minutes).

A 5000mAh battery can also last up to two days on a single charge when performing simple tasks, like checking texts, emails or surfing the web.

For comparison, Apple’s newest iPhone 15 has a just 3,349mAh battery.

As the name suggests, the Moto G34 5G has 5G capabilities, which means users can access faster internet speeds while outside of a home Wi-Fi network.

5G allows users to download files at speeds 100Mbps and beyond.

It also means owners will be immune to the looming 3G shut-off coming to the UK in phases this year and in 2025.

The phone will also come pre-loaded with the latest version of Android 14, which began rolling out to devices late last year, and all it’s newest features.

The Moto G34 launched in the US on 8 February for $150.

It will be available in other countries later this month.

What’s new in Android 14?

The AI element can be used in texts to make reply suggestions.

And there’s greater lock screen options and wallpapers, privacy and security dashboard improvements among the changes too.

Android users can now create parallax effect wallpapers using their own photos and even generative AI wallpapers based on text prompts.

Google – which runs Android – has made some changes to improve battery life as well, adjusting how the operating system handles background tasks such as downloads.

Android 14 also allows users to receive notification flashes across all compatible devices, not just Samsung handsets.

There is also better hearing aid support for people who are hard of hearing.

In terms of security, Google has added a new feature that will warn users each month when the apps they share data with have changed their data policies.
