Is there post over the May Bank Holiday?
Royal Mail says that it delivers on most days of the year, including Saturdays.
But it doesn’t deliver or collect on bank holidays, which includes the May bank holiday.
You’ll still be able to post a letter at one of the 100,000 post boxes across the country though.
Will the Post Office be open over the May bank holiday?
As with many stores, Post Office opening hours may vary over the bank holiday.

To check if your nearest Post Office is open visit their website, type in your postcode and a list of nearby branches with their details should appear.
It will also show opening hours.
What other Bank Holidays are there?
A bank holiday is a national public holiday in the UK and the Crown Dependencies, and in the Republic of Ireland.
They were first introduced by banker, politician and scientific writer Sir John Lubbock, who drafted the Bank Holiday Act in 1871 – which was repealed and replaced by the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971.

Royal Mail says on its website that the following dates in England and Wales will also be affected.
There are no collections or deliveries on:
- Early May Bank Holiday – Monday, May 6
- Spring Bank Holiday – Monday, May 27
- Summer Bank Holiday – Monday, August 26
- Christmas Day – Monday, December 25
- Boxing Day – Tuesday, December 26
