GAMING is one of the biggest industries in the world with big games costing the same if not more than big Hollywood blockbusters.
However, the funding for one game has blown all others out the water, and it keeps raising funds despite the game not being released yet.
Star Citizen reportedly began development in 2010, and was opened up to crowdfunding in 2012.
Since then it has raised over $650million (£470million) in the past 11 years without releasing the game.
The team just announced that it is increasing the price of it by adding a new downloadable pack which is the most expensive add-on yet.
Called Legatus 2953 and costing $48k (£38k), players can purchase a fleet of 175 in-game spaceships to play with.

The company has sold a new Legatus fleet every year, with the original 2018 set costing $28k.
Since then, the price has steeply increased, and is now almost twice the original already exorbitant amount.
There is still no clear release date for Star Citizen, and many early backers have given up on the game ever launching.
Parts of the game the team calls ‘Modules’ have been released, but what is out now is far from what backers were originally promised.

Despite this, the amount that players invest in the game rises year on year, and the project earned over $100million (£78million) in 2023 alone.
Figures for Legatus sales have not been officially announced, but it seems that they do generate sales.
If these expensive packages did not sell, it is unlikely that a new set would be developed every year.
Star Citizen requires hundreds of hours of grinding in order to gather the materials for a fleet like this.
Purchasing this absurdly expensive package will allow players to skip the grinding, but it appears that Star Citizen backers have the money to do so.
