MORRISONS shoppers have gone wild for a “yummy” new hot cross bun flavour which is inspired by a classic dessert.

With Easter just around the corner, the supermarket giant is stocking up shelves with a sweet treat favourite.

The big retailer is selling a range of hot cross buns with a delicious new flavour.

Shoppers flocking to the store spotted bags of Lemon Drizzle Hot Cross Buns.

The classic sweet treat is made with Sicilian lemons and orange peels.

Many customers have been left amazed by the beloved buns.

Taking to Facebook, one user said: “Toasted with butter and some lemon curd and you’re golden.”

Another added: “Need to try these.”

A third screamed: “These are amazing.”

However, not everyone was impressed – with others slamming the new combination.

One user fumed: “I love a good lemon drizzle I also love a good hot cross bun.

“But they should not be combined, hot cross buns now appear to be every flavour under the sun.”

Morrisons is selling the Easter staple for just £1.25 in stores.

The retailer launched the daring new flavour back in 2021 as part of a new flavour range.

Dessert lovers can also nab the Double Chocolate and Orange buns – which come in a blue branding.

These hot cross buns are packed with chunks of Belgian chocolate and tangy orange zest.

Another one to add to the trolly is Mature Cheddar and Red Leicester.

Morrisons is not the only supermarket that has introduced new treats just ahead of the Easter holiday.

Major supermarket Poundland has also just introduced a new range of instant pudding with three new flavours – Apple Pie, Cherry Bakewell and Banoffee Pie.

And B&M have stocked up a new bag of crisps with a strong flavour.

Meanwhile, Morrison shoppers have started stocking up on Cadbury and Nestle Easter eggs after the supermarket slashed the prices.

It has reduced the price of its medium 96g – 129g Easter eggs by 50% from £1.50 to 75p for customers with a More card.
