AN ANDROID app boasting a similar name to Donald Trump’s new social media platform has racked tens of thousands of downloads.

The smartphone app, titled ‘MAGA Hub — Truth Social Trump’, was downloaded more than 100,000 times on the Google Play Store.

The app appears to have been created by a developer named Lukas Neissen, who is based in Germany, according to Insider.

‘MAGA Hub’ was initially released on August 28 of last year, however, the bulk of its downloads happened in the days leading up to Trump’s ‘Truth Social’ launch on February 21.

The MAGA Hub app has sparked confusion for many supporters who were hoping to try out Trump’s social media platform on Android devices.

As it stands, Trump has only released Truth Social on the Apple iOS app store, where it reached No. 1 in the ‘free downloads’ category on the same day of its release.

Despite the apps’ similar names, it seems that MAGA Hub does differ from Trump’s app in the overall interface design.

MAGA Hub uses a photo-based feed that aggregates content (similar to Instagram), whereas Truth Social bears a strong resemblance to Twitter, per Insider.

The MAGA Hub app also features $28.99 in-app purchases (though it’s unclear for what), as well as a global chat group, to which users are automatically subscribed.

According to several reviews of the app on both Google Play and Twitter, it seems the platform has many glitches and technical errors, including password issues and not letting users erase their profiles after creation.

Many of MAGA Hub’s users, who seem to believe that the app was actually created by Trump, have spoken out about their experience regarding the app, its glitches, and features.

“Doesn’t work. I’ve reinstalled it 3 times. When I click on sign up, it throws me out of the app,” one user wrote.

“Come on Trump I thought you were smarter than this. I will be deleting this app right away, it’s just plain dumb,” another reviewer noted, adding a single star next to their comment.

“I would really appreciate it Trump if you could make the video lengths much longer as I want to use my profile to be of service, and that entails [posting] much longer than 10-second videos,” a third user said.

Some users saw through the app’s deceptive name and tried to warn others.

“Lists itself as ‘Truth Social Trump’ but make no mistake. This is false advertising. This is not Trump’s Truth Social. Keep that in mind,” user Hexor Marhetbar wrote, giving the app one star.

“This is total garbage. Full of pop-up ads and infested with trolls. Verification takes forever and for those not aware, this is NOT Trumps Truth social,” a second user remarked.

Google told Insider on Wednesday that it has suspended the app from its store, however, it seems that the app is still up and now using the name ‘Patriot Hub’.
