FUMING Missguided shoppers have been told they won’t be getting refunds for returns – but here’s how you could still get your cash back.

The clothes company toppled into administration in May but was snapped up by Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group earlier this month.

The troubled fashion retailer was saved in a last minute rescue deal for around £20million.

Missguided will continue to be operated by administrators for a transition period of around eight weeks.

But according to BBC News, Teneo – the administrators running the business until Frasers Group takes over – said the company won’t be able to honour refunds to customers.

Customers took to Twitter to slam the company after being left out of pocket.

One shopper said: “Looks like I am never getting my refund from @Missguided_help because I didn’t pay on credit card or PayPal. What an absolute joke!!!!!!!”

Another raged: “As if Missguided aren’t going to be honouring refunds.”

While another customer tweeted: “As if @Missguided have refused to refund me £160 due to going into administration. Day light robbery and just disgusting.”

Customers are unlikely to get refunds when a retailer collapses because any money that is left usually goes to paying secured creditors – like lenders or key suppliers.

It means shoppers are bottom of the list for getting their cash back – and according to reports, Missguided allegedly owes suppliers millions.

One angry supplier told The i that they had to sell their wife’s wedding jewellery and mum’s too to raise £40,000 to pay for staff’s wages.

Teneo was approached for comment.

What to do if you’ve been affected

If you’ve ordered a haul from Missguided that you want to return, there are a number of ways you could get your money back – even if you can’t get it directly from the retailer.

If you are waiting on an order or can’t get a refund, you can ask your card provider to reimburse you, Moneycomms personal finance expert Andrew Hagger said.

“If the purchase was more than £100 and you paid on credit card, you should contact your card company to put in a ‘Section 75 claim’.”

Write to your card provider asking for the full amount you paid. If your claim is unsuccessful you can ask the Financial Ombudsman Service to look at your case.

If you used a Visa or Mastercard debit card to make your purchase, you could also ask for a “charge back” whereby you ask your card provider for the money back, Resolver consumer expert Martyn James said.

“It might be too late for chargeback to work but it’s the only chance people have, sadly,” he said.

He added that Buy Now, Pay Later customers should speak to their lender and ask if they can sort out a refund.
