A GLITCH in Apple’s latest software update has rained on the iPhone makers’ parade after fans complained online.
The recent iOS 16.3 update has meant many users are now unable to backup their iCloud – one of Apple’s most beloved features.

Unhappy users took to Apple’s support forums and Reddit to voice concerns, after being met with error messages when trying to protect their data in the iCloud, AppleInsider first reported.
Apple’s iCloud makes sure that users have a copy of the information on their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
iCloud Backup makes a copy of the information on their Apple device, which protects their data against loss or theft – and also makes it easier to set up a new device.
The iOS 16.3 was launched in late January.
The update made security changes including the use of physical security keys – which act as an extra layer of protection for accounts.
When users to reenable iCloud, they are met with pop-ups saying either “An unknown error occurred” or “An Unexpected Error Occurred. Please try again later.”
For many people, two-factor authentication is also not enabled with the latest update – which can leave their Apple accounts at risk.
Two-factor authentication means users are required to give two forms of identification to get into their accounts, such as a password and phone number.

However, there are some reports of users having the same issue but their two-factor authentication is still intact.
Despite the issue, iPhone users are still encouraged to install the update over cybersecurity concerns.
With each fresh update, Apple with patch up potential security vulnerabilities, which means iPhone users are left exposed if they’re device’s system is not up to date.
To check if your iCloud backup is working, users much head into Settings > [their name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
Users must make their their device is connected to a power source and WiFi, their device screen is locked and that they have enough storage space in their iCloud.
