FACEBOOK users have been warned not to fall for a tempting iPhone offer that’s actually a scam.

Several posts on the social network claim Argos and Amazon are selling iPhone and Samsung devices for wildly cheap prices to clear out their warehouses.

The fake offer suggests that you can get an iPhone 14 or Samsung Galaxy S22 for as little as £3.

“Argos is freeing its warehouses from last year’s electronics models,” the dodgy deals say.

“Due to the release of Samsung S23, Argos frees warehouses from last year’s SamsungS22 model and running a charity event and giving away packages with Samsung S22 for only £3.”

Clicking the link takes you to a site that looks exactly like Amazon’s.

It asks you to take a survey to be in with a chance of securing the offer.

And has a timer to push people to act impulsively.

But the web address is not an official one for Amazon at all.

Both Argos and Amazon have confirmed to Full Fact that the deals are not real.

“This is not a genuine post,” an Argos rep told the fact checking charity.

“I would advise not to engage with this.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Amazon said: ““These posts are not related to Amazon.”

To make it more convincing, scammers have set up fake accounts to leave comments on the posts.

One says: “Got delivery yesterday!! Today I ordered another one for a gift to my wife.”

Fortunately, Full Fact has flagged the posts as false information, so it hides them from view.

But be on the look out for others like it.

It’s always important to remember if it looks too good to be true, then it probably isn’t.

If you’re unsure about something, always go via a retailer’s official site – not via the links shown in a Facebook post.
