ANDROID users have been warned not to fall for a fake Samsung app available on Google Play Store.
The app in question looks like one of the tech giant’s special tools called DropShip.

It even features the same logo but the app page description mysteriously lacks any mention of Samsung.
The real thing is designed to share stuff with other phones, tablets and PCs.
But the alleged dummy uncovered on the Google Play Store does none of that, reports Android Police.
Experts say the app doesn’t even work when you attempt to load it.
All that comes up is: “This app needs to be updated!”
One red flag is the fact the developer is called Assert Studio, not Samsung.
We don’t know what it’s up to behind-the-scenes.
But according to the developer’s site it’s an “ad supported app”.

It looks like only a handful of people have downloaded it, but it’s still on the Google Play Store at the moment.
As the report notes, DropShip is only supposed to be on the Samsung Galaxy Store.
It’s also limited to the company’s home turf South Korea for the moment.
The Sun has approached Samsung to confirm whether the app is fake or not.
Even though Google vets apps that go onto its digital store, some do manage to slip through the net.
