Thresholds being raised in eight counties as average temperatures rise due to global heating

The Met Office is increasing the temperature threshold for heatwaves across eight English counties as the climate heats up.

Heatwaves are defined as happening when a location records at least three days in a row with daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding a certain threshold.
