Child named after the family nickname for the Queen, the baby’s great-grandmother

The Duchess of Sussex has given birth to a daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, and both mother and child are healthy and well, Meghan’s press secretary said.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who was born on Friday in California, weighed 7lb 11oz and has been named Lilibet after the family nickname for the Queen, the baby’s great-grandmother, while her middle name was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales, the couple said.
