GAMES Done Quick is the bi-annual gaming event that has raised over $43million (£33million) for charity.
It’s a 24/7 marathon where people from all over the world come together and speedrun video games around the clock.
Speedrunning is when you complete games as fast as possible, either via hundreds or even thousands of hours of practice, or the practice combined with a number of glitches and exploits.
AGDQ 2024, the winter speedrunning event, is currently underway, and there is one very special runner on the bill.
Peanut Butter is the first dog that will be running a game at the event, playing together with his owner James, also known as JSR_.
The pair will be playing Gyromite, a game that was originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Originally, the game was designed to be played cooperatively with R.O.B., the system’s ‘Robot Operating Buddy’.
R.O.B. used a setup where the robot could drop gyros in order to operate the second controller.
JSR_ has put the controller in the much more capable hands of Peanut Butter who will be opening and closing gates so that JSR_ can continue through the levels.
Peanut Butter has a modified controller with extra large buttons so that he can push them with his paws.

The Shiba Inu has undertaken years of training in order to learn how to play the game, and James issues commands with his voice and hand signals.
Peanut Butter is rewarded with a clicker and a treat, as well as many compliments when he carries out an instruction correctly.
The pair call themselves PB&J on YouTube after the popular American sandwich, but PB has another meaning.
In speedrunning PB means ‘personal best’, as in the best time that a runner has achieved in a game.
You can watch PB&J speedrun Gyromite on the GDQ Twitch channel on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 6:25pm UK time.
