Blue Monday, dubbed “the most depressing day of the year” by scientists is upon us.

The factors used to base the date of Blue Monday include weather conditions, and debt level.

Other factors include the amount of time since Christmas, and the time it typically takes for people to begin failing their New Year resolutions, and generally lose motivation.

In a response to the dreaded day, McDonald’s will be giving away offers for 10 days straights.

Fast-food fans will be able to unlock the super bargain from January 15 on the McDonald’s app.

On the first day of the offer, users can snap up Chicken McNuggets for only 99p – instead of the original price of £4.69.

But the deals don’t stop here, the following day customers will be offered 20 per cent off on orders over £10.

Savvy Brits will then snap up a Big Mac on the third day for only £1.49.

Those flocking to branches on January 18, they will be able to save £3 if they spend £12 or more.

However, the offers can change across the chain’s core menu on a daily basis.

But McDonald’s is keeping the £2.99 Veggie Dippers meal for £1.49 throughout the 10 days.

The popular brand is also selling £4.69 Veggie Deluxe burger for £1.49 during the same period.

The deals are exclusively available on the McDonald’s app – meaning that the discounts will not apply to orders placed on food delivery apps.

The £4.59 McChicken Sandwich will be reduced to 99p for 24 hour only on January 22.

McChicken nuggets fans are in for a treat as it is the only item to appear in the 10 days of savings twice.

And customers will get the chance to bag them for 99p on the final day of the promotion.

While the 10 day promotion is available, McDonald’s is keeping their Fry-anuary Rewards scheme.

App users have the chance of winning one in 25,000 prizes when they purchase Medium or Large Fries.

Other customers who bag four portions of Medium or Large Fries in January can earn 4,000 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points – which is the equivalent of a Big Mac.

How to use the app

The app is free to download on both IOS and Android.

Once you have it, you can sign up with a McDonald’s rewards scheme account.

On the app, you will able to browse the latest menu available at the restaurant.

It is an easy way to keep updated and order when you are on the go as it works anywhere you have internet.

In the mornings, you’ll have access to the breakfast menu options until 11am, when breakfast finishes and lunch begins.

Before ordering you will need to pick the restaurant you want your food to be made at.

After the first time, the app will remember your previous locations and should flag the last restaurant you picked up at.

If you’re visiting somewhere new make sure the correct restaurant is selected as the app will autofill your location when it’s opened.

After this, you’ll be able to look at menu items and add them to your basket.

Once you’ve completed this, you can confirm your order and head to the restaurant.

When you’ve arrived, confirm this on the app and select the collection method.

You can set up a payment method in the app which can be saved and used every time too.

You won’t be charged until you’ve arrived at the restaurant and selected a collection method.

You can also select your favourite items with the star button next to each product, making it easier and quicker to reorder your favourite meals.

Plus, the app allows you to customise orders just like when you normally order.

You can remove things you don’t want in a burger and add extras.

The only issue is the app won’t allow you to pay with cash.
