The chain has decided to introduce AI along with other system updates to “improve operations and customer and crew experience.”

Google and McDonald’s are set to collaborate and will upgrade the software across “thousands” of stores”.

McDonald’s plans to introduce a chatbot called “Ask Pickles” which will be able to give workers advice and answer questions.

This has prompted fans to hope it might help solve the Nationwide problem of its broken ice cream machines by teaching workers how to fix them.

Earlier this year a “worrying” statistic published by the register.com emerged that claimed “10 per cent of McDonald’s ice cream machines are broken at any given moment.”

According to McDonald’s another outcome of AI coming to its restaurants will be “hotter fresher food.”

Although it has not revealed many specific details of what else AI will be used for, it’s thought it will analyse massive amounts of data to help optimise operations.

And the update will include hardware and software upgrades in stores as well as services provided through Google Cloud.

The updated system will help managers “quickly spot and enact solutions to reduce business disruptions.”

McDonald’s President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski said: “We have a clear trajectory for future growth as we continue to build on the brand strength, global footprint and digital ecosystem,”

Maccies fans have mixed responses to the announcement.

One X user appeared excited about the change and wrote: “Now that’s what I call ‘crisp’ technology implementation!

“Wonder if AI can also predict the next burger trend?”

A second also embraced the change adding: “Service will be so much better.”

But someone else seemed concerned and said: “They never think. Something needs to be kept in the human hand,”

Another saw the funny side of the concern and wrote: “But ChatGPT cannot flip burgers… yet…”
