MARTIN Lewis has revealed how Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Lidl customers can get special discounts and save hundreds of pounds.
The consumer guru explained how making the most of supermarket loyalty schemes could shave money off your grocery bill.

Martin’s supermarket tips were included in his cost of living crisis survival guide on MoneySavingExpert as families are being stung by soaring bills from energy to food to fuel.
It will come in handy as fridge staples have rocketed in price by up to 37.2%, according to the latest ONS data.
Here’s how Martin said you could bag special deals at Tesco, Lidl and Sainsbury’s.
Tesco
If you are a Tesco shopper, you can make the most of the supermarket’s “Clubcard Prices” scheme that could see you save up to 50% off items on offer, Martin said.
Tesco Clubcard holders can collect one point for every £1 spent in store and online, and one for every £2 spent on fuel.
One point is worth 1p, so 150 points gets you £1.50, for example.
You can then turn your points into vouchers to spend in store, or you can triple their worth if you spend them at other retailers and chains who have partnered with Tesco.

As well as getting points every time you shop, Clubcard members can also get certain items simply just by using their card.
“In the past we’ve seen £12 Baileys (normally £20) and £2.50 McCain chips (normally £3.29),” Martin said.
Sainsbury’s
If you’re a Sainsbury’s shopper, the supermarket says you can save £200 a year if you sign up to its Nectar card reward scheme, Martin explained.
The supermarket launched a massive shake-up to its Nectar card scheme in September.
My Nectar Prices give shoppers money off the items they purchase most, and customers could bag discounts of up to 30% on their favourite items.
To get the discounts, you’ll have to use the self-scanner in the supermarket, known as SmartShop.
With SmartShop you scan your shopping on your smartphone as you go around the store. You can also use the in-store handheld scanners.
Customers pay for their shopping through the app or at a checkout.
Lidl
Lidl’s own loyalty scheme – Lidl Plus – can save you up to 25% on some items.
“We’ve seen 20% off crackers and 15% off frozen veggies,” Martin said.
Lidl Plus is a virtual rewards card – and you have to download the supermarket’s app to access the deals.
The Plus card app lets you unlock money-off coupons when you reach your spending targets each month.
You have to spend the coupons in seven days, and they are subject to availability of products at your local branch.
If you spend £100 at Lidl over the space of a month, you will be rewarded with £2 back.
While spending £200 in a month means you earn a £10 coupon.
Hunt for yellow sticker items the next time you are out at your local supermarket.
Supermarkets often reduce the price of food nearing its use by date to shift stock and avoid food wastage.
These items are usually tagged with yellow stickers, showing how much the item has been reduced by.
You can often save up to 75% off these items.
You’ll want to plan your meals as well before you shop, to avoid picking up food you don’t actually need.
While using food waste apps can help you knock money off your bill.
Too Good To Go means you can buy food and treats from shops including Morrisons, Greggs and Pret at a big discount.
The app means shops can sell food that would only have been thrown away at the end of the day.
While Kitche keeps track of the food you bought at the supermarket and lets you know when items are getting close to their sell by date – promising to save you £630 a year.
