“There are over one million free water-saving gadgets,” he said on the latest episode of his ITV Money Show.

“It’s postcode dependent, some people get them, some people don’t.”

He added: “It cuts water and it cuts your energy use too, because remember much of the water that we use is heating.”

How can I get free water-saving gadgets?

SaveWaterSaveMoney.co.uk is a website that collates all the free water-saving gadgets on offer from different companies.

You just have to enter your postcode on the site and answer certain questions like how many people live in your home and how many showers you take a week.

Then you’ll be redirected to your water supplier’s website to claim the freebie.

Whether you can get a freebie depends on where you live as not all water companies offer them.

Plus, not all water companies are included in Save Water Save Money’s promotion.

You might be able to claim a freebie by contacting them direct though.

Beyond saving previous H2O, the gizmos can slash your water and energy bills.

The Energy Saving Trust says switching to a water-efficient shower head reduces hot water usage and could save a family of four on a water meter around £195 on their water and energy bills.

This is because less energy is needed to pump, heat and treat the water.

Of course, you might save less or more depending on your usage.

What other help can I get with my energy bills?

There’s plenty of help on offer for households looking to cut back on their energy bills.

The government is in the process of issuing a £400 energy rebate to millions of households.

The money has been split into six monthly instalments that started being paid last October.

The rebate is being issued as a discount on most households’ bills, but if you pay via prepayment meter you have to redeem vouchers.

You might also be able to get help through the Warm Home Discount scheme.

Under the scheme, households on low incomes and certain benefits are given a discount on their energy bill.

So you don’t receive money directly but rather have your bill slashed.

The scheme usually runs between October and April every year.

You might be in line for a Cold Weather payment if temperatures reach sub-zero over an extended period too.
